Vahagn Gharibyan was one of those who entered the world of television, being completely unaware of that world, but eager to do only the best. Thanks to his consientious and serious attitude to the work and his respectful and sociable character, for a long period of time the management of the television have entrusted him the leadership of a large group of operators.

The first workers of the television, as well as Vahagn did not only enjoy the happiness of discovery but also tasted the bitterness of failure. But none of them gave up, because it was a generation of creative soul that was to serve the newly established culture, committed to achieve its goal.

Enumerating the performances made by V. Gharibyan, we have to go back and remember all the performances made during 1957 – 1966. Operators of the new generation were not trusted to make performances on their own, so all of them made their steps under the guidance of Vahagn Gharibyan also after 1966. Anyway, it is worth mentioning some of the most successful performances: “Human destiny”, “Aregnazan”, “We don’t know Armenian”, “12 angry men”, “Farewell to June” and many others.

Today, Vahagn Gharibyan’s two sons – Armen and Arthur work in the Armenian Public Television. It means that things are still continuing…

Vahagn Gharibyan was born on February 26, 1932 in Yerevan.

In 1951-1955 he passed his military service in Soviet army as a signalman.

In 1956, from the day of the establishment of Armenian television he started working in the television as operator.

In 1960 and 1963 he completed the operator’s training courses of Moscow central television.

In 1967 he was the head of the department of trick photography of Armenian television.

In 1967 The Supreme Council of Armenia awarded him with an honorary diploma.

In 1972 and 1975 he received an award from the Central television of Moscow.

In 1976 he received the “Red star” medal.

From 1968 till 1974 Vahagn Gharibyan headed the department of photography of the Institute of Rural Economy.

In 1972 he was qualified as an operator of high rank.

In 1972 he was appointed chief operator of Armenian television.

In 2000 he retired.
