Nerses
Kagramanov
Nerses Kagramanov was the first director of Armenian Television.

From the day of creation of Armenian Television, October, 1956 Nerses Kagramanov gathered people who were to create the history of the first days of Armenian Television. They were people who were ready to work day and night in order to establish and develop a culture that was new in Armenia.

Coming to the television from theatre and realizing the importance and the role of culture, Kagramanov viewed television as a means of communication with cultural values. He truly realized the great impact that the television could have on the society. From 1957 Armenian Television started to broadcast a series of cultural programs, such as "Hrachya Nersisyan is on the stage", "Pushkin’s poetry", "The theatre of one actor" and many others.

It was during his period when the "Weekly news" informational program was created. Though the program was not broadcast regularly, it anyway played an important role in the establishment of Armenian Television.
Coming to the television in 1956, Nerses Kagramanov served Armenian Television to the dissemination of cultural values.
