Movies of the
1960-ies
In February 1967 Armenian television celebrated its 10th anniversary. During those years the television already proved its leading position. Almost 500 filmings were done, to mention a few: "Sayat Nova", "Lipstick No. 4", "Melodies of Shirak", "The last burst", etc.
In December 1966 in Yerevan, during the First All-Union Film Festival "The last burst" by Vilen Zakaryan was awarded the only diploma to short feature films, and later - a diploma of Kiev festival.
The Editorial office of feature programs was not limited to its own programs. Starting October 5, 1964, the first serial was shown with Armenian dubbing. This was "The green monster" filmed in GDR. In 1965-1966 the first announcement films were shown; they were shown once a month, and were named correspondingly: "On TV in September", "On TV in October". Starting December 4, 1967, those programs were renamed into "TV news".
On August 16, 1964 the first programs about masters of world cinema were shown; on January 14, 1967, the "Birth of the cinema" program made the first attempt to present the history of film. By the end of the year, starting from December 19, the editorial office of feature programs opened a new 30-minute length program - "In the world of cinema".
All-Union prize
"The last burst" movie, filmed by a very loved friend of mine, director Vilen Zakaryan, has a remarkable story"- the film operator, Stepan Martirosyan says.
- The film was based on an article published by a Bulgarian journalist in "Sovietsky Sport" newspaper; the article told about the story similar to the one in our film. The script was written by Vilen. There were almost no doubts regarding the actor to play the hero. Levon Tukhikyan, it seemed, was born to play that interesting and rather complicated personality. It was only left to choose the location, which was almost impossible in Armenia. We needed an area, which had no hills at all, even on the background. We chose Krasnodar: first, large plains, as much as you want. Second, many of the actors of Gorky Dramatic Theatre in Krasnodar have survived the hard days of Hitler's occupation and were well aware of the period. We found the child in the city park, and were not mistaken. He played his role perfectly.
The filming started. The location we chose was rather far from Krasnodar, however, almost the entire city came to the filming place and followed the process. The sun simply burned. The heat was so unbearable, that some of the machine gunners asked the director to "shoot" them quickly, so that they can rest a little. We were drenched in sweat, thirsty, weak, however, continued to work. There were some episodes, when we were forced to make two, three takes. Luckily for us, the actors, especially Levon Tukhikyan, were rather strong people. None of them left the stage. All of them got involved in a psychologically complex, tense film. Already during filming, we were sure that the film will not leave the audience indifferent.
