The Information Ministry is being Formed
In 1996 the second channel of the Armenian television separated and became a separate program. Robert Mavisakalyan was appointed director of "Nork" television. Within a short period of time "Nork" was able to attract the attention of the bulk of the audience. Analytical information programs were being launched. "Lurer" (News), "Zhamanakachap" (Metronome), etc. Fresh air is brought by the youth-entertaining programs of "Art 13" TV company - "Late at night", "Sketches", etc. In 1995 changes took place in the management structure of the television. Ministry of Information was founded in July, which included in its structure the Radio and the Television, department of publishing, "Armenpress" state news agency, "Haymamul" and "Parberakan" publishing houses. According to the President's decree dated July 26, Hrachya Tamrazyan was appointed Minister of Information. During the one year of its activities, the Ministry succeeded to partially recover some separate units of the system, correspondent stations were opened in the USA.
"We had many programs, however, they were mainly left unimplemented. The biggest problem was the financing. Allocations from the State budget were insufficient for implementation of those expensive programs needed to satisfy the needs of the television,"- Hrachya Tamrazyan, the first and the last Minister of Information details. By the end of 1998 the second State channel, "Nork" television, was closed. Almost the entire creative group transferred to "Prometevs" private TV company.
